New bull: vibing

Vibing: 1. Talking about nothing much in a lively sort of way. 2. Talking utter bollocks, often when off one’s head on booze or drugs; riffing randomly on any topic that comes to mind; content of many brainstorms, as in “Oh, we’ll just vibe around that particular thought.”

New bull: Fallen over

Fallen over:1. Finished; collapsed. 2. Slightly patronizing and glib phrase much loved by dealmakers in the city, as in “Okay Seb, so the deal has fallen over, but you need to get back into the ring and keep fighting,” or some such rubbish.

New bull: Feet to the fire

Feet to the fire. 1. Pedal limb in flames. 2. Somewhat macabre form of staff torture loosely presented as an incentive, as in “I want to keep Nigel’s feet to the fire on this one.” – as though he is likely to respond positively. (see Failure is not an option)

New bull: Apex predator

Apex predator:1. Animal at the top of the food chain, characterised by its ability to eat everything else. 2. Grumpy, hectoring boss with appalling bullying habits; despotic twat who believes he is Hitler; world domination freak hellbent on control and power. (see Alpha male)

New bull: Always in beta

Always in beta:1. Forever in test mode. 2. Rather hip phrase adopted by digital natives to suggest that they are constantly improving their work; failure to note that this means they never arrive in alpha, so nothing is permanent and there is always an excuse as to why something doesn’t work because it is still work in progress; additional insinuation that anyone in alpha is some kind of stick-in-the-mud dinosaur. (see Digital native)
